Children are fascinated by drawing: it is the first non-verbal language through which they explore their feelings, their relationships and their place in the world. As they mature through the 8 year old and up years, they also wish to render what they see and imagine in a satisfying, representational way. Our gentle, step by step guidance trains our students how to apply the "secret" fo simply finding a place to start and building up an image line by line. We draw things kids love; castles and kings, monsters and mermaids, rocket ships and Harley Davidsons, Star Wars and Disney. We also explore the use of a variety of age-appropriate media including charcoal and conte crayon, pastels, colored pencils, watercolors, acrylic paints and collage. Art history and art apprecation are part of every lesson as we offer loads of books and reference images to enhance the lessons. We encourage each student to keep a portfolio of their work so that we can all enjoy an art show during the year.
